The Tsunami 2004

In response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami of December 26, 2004, the ADA Foundation and the American Dental Association’s Committee on International Programs and Development created a Tsunami Dental Reconstruction Fund Grant Program to address long term oral health needs of the communities affected by this natural disaster. With the grant from the American Dental Association Foundation, Smiles on Wings  initiated an ongoing project of dental reconstruction for the Tsunami survivors living in the Phang-nga province (most severely devastated area), Southern Thailand.

With this generous funding , Smiles on Wings and its volunteers provide much needed dental care for the villagers including orphans from the Tsunami, fishermen and their families currently living on the coastal areas of Phang-nga Province continuing to rebuild and recover from the 2004 disaster. Smiles on Wings has currently completed three missions under the grant and is set for their next mission in July 2011. Click here to get involved!
